About the Cottage

Smugglers Cottage is a Grade II listed property dating back to the late 17th Century. We fell in love with the cottage on a weekend away in 2013 and spent two years restoring it, adding a modern contemporary extension and bathroom for 21st century living.

Drawing by local Margate artist Heidi Plant.

We teamed up with local Margate Architect Sam Causer who transformed the cottage and local builder G and W Gardner who then saw these dreams and plans through to reality.

We are pleased with the recognition the cottage is receiving in particular having been nominated for local and national awards for a full renovation project and as a result being highly commended alongside five amazing projects in Margate. Details of the Town Pride Awards can be found on the Margate Civic Society website.

We are also very proud to have achieved consecutive “Customers Choice” awards based on our cottages.com guest feedback during 2016 and 2017, our first two years as a holiday let.

We also featured in the fantastic Instagram blog of a Margate visist and stay at Smugglers Cottage by Reverie during January 2018.
